Bittensor Price Plummets 3.5% Amid Technical Exhaustion and Binance Inflow
The price of Bittensor (TAO) dropped by 3.5% over the last 7 hours, largely due to technical exhaustion and a significant inflow of TAO to Binance.
According to on-chain analysis, TAO's chart was already stretched and failing at a key resistance level, with the price attempting to reclaim the daily 200 EMA at $236 but being rejected. This led to a 5% drop to $229, marking the end of a strong bounce that had seen TAO rally by 60% from its swing low.
The on-balance volume remained flat during the bounce, indicating a bearish divergence, while the StochRSI hit 89, placing it deep in overbought territory. This setup made TAO susceptible to a fast retrace without any new on-chain or fundamental shock.
A large deposit of 3,092 TAO (approximately $727k) to Binance acted as an immediate sell-side catalyst, increasing selling pressure and exacerbating price movements due to the asset's thin order books compared to BTC or ETH. Traders often front-run expected selling by opening shorts or pulling bids, which can amplify price fluctuations.
The broader crypto market also contributed to TAO's decline, with a modest cool-off in the total crypto market cap and Bitcoin stalling under $80k ahead of US inflation data. This macro risk-off tone amplified TAO's technical weakness, making traders quicker to sell or short an already stretched chart once fresh supply hit exchanges.
