SHIB Listed on Japan's First New Crypto Exchange in Four Years
Laser Digital Japan, a Nomura-backed platform, has received approval to operate as a crypto asset exchange in Japan, marking the country's first new license in four years. The exchange launches with six assets, including Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), XRP (XRP), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Litecoin (LTC), and Shiba Inu (SHIB). SHIB is notable for being a meme coin among this list.
The inclusion of SHIB on the platform is significant because Japan's approval process is considered one of the most rigorous in Asia. The token's addition to the Japan Virtual and Crypto Assets Exchange Association Green List in November 2025 paved the way for its listing on the Nomura-backed exchange.
SHIB's institutional credibility has been boosted by this development, with the official Shiba Inu X account calling it a new milestone for the token's global reach. The burn activity of SHIB also spiked between August 22 and 23, peaking at around 41 million tokens before falling off sharply.
