Bitwise Closes Dogecoin ETF Amid Changing Investor Needs

Bitwise, an asset manager, has announced plans to close its Dogecoin ETF (BWOW) in October. The final trading day is expected to be on October 14, after which the fund will cease operations.

The decision comes less than a year after the launch of the BWOW ETF in November 2025. Bitwise cites changing investor needs as the reason for the closure.

Investors who hold shares in the BWOW ETF can sell their holdings before the final trading day or wait for automatic liquidation payments on October 22. The payments will be based on the fund's net asset value (NAV) on October 21.

Bitwise has coordinated the delisting and liquidation of the BWOW ETF with the exchange, NYSE Arca. The company's reported $9 billion in client assets covers its broader business, not just the BWOW ETF. This means that the reported decline in the fund's assets is likely overstated.
