Bitwise Launches NEAR Protocol ETF with Strong Institutional Interest
Bitwise Investment Advisers has launched the Bitwise NEAR Protocol ETF, ticker NRR, marking a significant step for institutional investors looking to gain exposure to the NEAR Protocol. The ETF, which began trading on NYSE Arca on September 28, 2026, is designed to hold NEAR tokens directly and seeks additional returns through staking. The prospectus outlines that the fund’s primary goal is to track the value of NEAR held by the Trust, minus operating expenses, with a secondary objective of earning more NEAR through staking.
Day one trading saw impressive activity, with assets under management (AUM) reaching $36 million and net inflows of $35.5 million. Trading volume hit $15.1 million, indicating strong initial interest from investors. The ETF’s structure includes a 0.75% annual management fee, with staking rewards accruing to the Trust’s assets, potentially increasing the net asset value (NAV) per share.
NEAR’s price responded positively to the ETF launch, climbing above $5.40 before a subsequent correction pushed it toward $4.65. The token had already seen a nearly 180% rally in September, raising questions about whether institutional demand can sustain the upward momentum or if the ETF launch has already been priced in. Technical analysis suggests that the $4.50, $4.65 range is a key support level, with potential targets at $5.00, $5.50, and $6.00 if buying pressure resumes.
The long-term outlook for NEAR depends on consistent ETF inflows and sustained staking demand. Additionally, NEAR’s growing role in AI infrastructure and cross-chain transactions could provide further catalysts. However, the recent rally leaves little room for error, making ETF flows, trading volume, and broader crypto market sentiment critical factors to watch.
