Bitwise Shuts Down Dogecoin ETF Months After Launch

Bitwise Asset Management is shutting down its Dogecoin ETF (BWOW) just months after launching it in November last year. The company cited 'evolving investor needs' as the reason for closing the fund, which held a relatively small $688K in net assets as of September 9th.

The Bitwise Dogecoin ETF debuted on November 25, 2025, and had its last trading day set for October 14. The company will begin converting the fund's DOGE holdings into cash on that date, paving the way for final payouts to investors who remain in the fund after trading ends.

Shareholders do not need to take any action as redemptions will be handled automatically through their brokers or financial intermediaries. The net asset value used to calculate those payments will be based on October 21 figures, with cash distributions expected on or around October 22.
