BIX Card Unveils Visa-Backed Stablecoin Spending Solution
The BIX Card is a new financial tool that connects self-custody wallets with everyday spending. The card, issued through Visa, allows users to hold and manage stablecoins in an app they control, then spend against that balance at merchants worldwide.
Users can choose from several blockchains, including Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, Base, Solana, and Optimism, to store their USDC and USDT stablecoins. The card is supported in 29 US states, with plans to expand to 49 states within six to eight months.
The company charges a $9.99 fee for the virtual Visa card, which works immediately for online payments and is compatible with mobile wallets. There are no funding fees, but a 1% FX fee applies on applicable foreign-currency purchases.
BIX Plus, a premium membership program, will be introduced soon, offering benefits such as airport lounge access, rental-car insurance, and travel discounts. Physical cards will also be available for $99, with a 0.6% BIX ATM withdrawal fee.
