Blacklight L1 Mainnet Launches on Ethereum with NIL Staking Requirements
Nillion's Blacklight L1 mainnet has officially launched on Ethereum, marking a significant milestone for the network. The launch brings node operations and 0.5% annual inflation rewards to the table. Node operators are required to register fresh L1 nodes with a minimum stake of 70,000 NIL, which directly ties participation to the network's launch requirements.
The activation moves the network from preparation to operational status, with staking, rewards, and node registration beginning simultaneously. As nodes come online, NIL is taking on a functional role in the Ethereum L1 deployment. The expected near-term effect of this development is renewed staking demand as operators position their capital to qualify for rewards.
The 70,000 NIL minimum means participation is weighted toward larger holders, which shapes how broadly staking spreads across the operator base. This could lead to a concentrated distribution of staking power among larger NIL holders.
