BlackRock’s Bitcoin ETF clients made another significant purchase, acquiring $69.85 million worth of Bitcoin. This purchase reflects the fund’s process of converting cash inflows into actual Bitcoin to back new shares. While substantial, the amount is smaller than some of IBIT’s peak days this year, including a $195.6 million inflow on October 1 and a $183.41 million inflow in July.

The latest buy comes amid a nine-day streak of inflows for US spot Bitcoin ETFs, ending in late September 2026, during which these funds attracted approximately $3 billion, the strongest run since October 2025. IBIT captured a large portion of this inflow, pulling in around $1.2 billion in one week in September, with competitors like Fidelity’s FBTC and ARK 21Shares’ ARKB also seeing inflows.

Earlier in 2026, cumulative flows were trending toward a potential $5.8 billion loss, but by late September, institutional buying had turned that figure modestly positive. On certain days, IBIT’s inflows surpassed the entire category’s net inflows, meaning other funds experienced outflows while BlackRock continued to attract capital. Bitcoin’s price hovered around the mid-$80,000s during this period.

Launched in January 2024 after securing SEC approval, IBIT quickly became a market leader in both assets under management and inflows. The fund offers regulated Bitcoin exposure in a familiar brokerage product, eliminating concerns about misplaced private keys. Throughout 2026, IBIT has frequently dominated net category flows, even as Bitcoin’s price fluctuated.
