BlackRock Clients Unload $123M in BTC Amid Ongoing ETF Redemptions

BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) has seen clients sell off nearly two thousand Bitcoin, worth approximately $123 million in a recent wave of redemptions.

The transaction is part of a broader trend of fluctuating ETF flows that have characterized the market since IBIT launched in January 2024.

Historical data shows that May 2026 alone saw outflows of roughly 15,000 BTC from Bitcoin ETFs, with industry-wide total ETF outflows reaching over $3 billion in some months.

The mechanics of BlackRock's fund respond to client withdrawal requests by selling the underlying Bitcoin to return cash to investors. This process has become one of the most successful ETF launches in history since its debut.
