BlackRock Credits Reduced Bitcoin Volatility to Its Own ETP
BlackRock's Head of U.S. Equity ETFs Jay Jacobs credits his firm's involvement in Bitcoin's reduced volatility to its introduction of a Bitcoin Exchange-Traded Product (ETP) called IBIT.
In an interview on Anthony Pompliano's podcast, Jacobs noted that Bitcoin's volatility has decreased from around 80% to the 35-40 range. This decrease in volatility is attributed to the growing participation of long-term buyers, who now have easier access to Bitcoin through the options market surrounding IBIT.
IBIT has made it simple for financial advisers and institutions to invest in Bitcoin by allowing them to buy it directly through a brokerage account. This accessibility has forced these entities to make a decision about whether or not to include Bitcoin in their portfolios.
Jacobs also emphasized the importance of understanding how investors are reacting to current economic conditions, particularly geopolitical tensions and fiat currency debasement. He stated that 'when we end up in an environment where people are more concerned about geopolitics or fiat currency debasement, Bitcoin should benefit.'
