BlackRock Dominates Spot Crypto ETF Inflows with Nearly $369 Million
U.S.-listed spot crypto exchange-traded funds (ETFs) rebounded on August 18, with Bitcoin and Ether products drawing in nearly $369 million in net inflows. The recovery was led by institutional demand for BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), which accounted for approximately $160.2 million of the day's inflows.
BlackRock and Fidelity dominated the session, with their Bitcoin ETFs pulling in more than 91% of the reported inflows. The combined net inflow for spot Bitcoin ETFs reached $297.5 million, a significant reversal from the previous week's redemptions. In contrast to earlier sessions when funds like Morgan Stanley's and ARK 21Shares' products were also popular, BlackRock's IBIT has been the top performer in Bitcoin ETFs.
The Ether category saw approximately $71.47 million in net inflows, with BlackRock's iShares Ethereum Trust ETF (ETHA) accounting for about 90% of the day's total. The result extended the positive-flow streak to four trading sessions and arrived as Ether traded near $1,900.
The session marked a significant shift from earlier periods when Bitcoin funds lost money due to redemptions. Fidelity has been particularly volatile in its subscriptions and withdrawals, while BlackRock's IBIT remains the dominant Bitcoin ETF by cumulative flows, having attracted more than $61 billion since U.S. spot Bitcoin products launched.
