BlackRock Lowers IBIT In-Kind Conversion Minimum to $1M
BlackRock has reduced the minimum threshold for in-kind conversion of its iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) from $25 million to $1 million, a move that may increase institutional access and flexibility.
The change was disclosed in an updated IBIT filing and applies to creation and redemption activity between authorized participants and qualifying institutions, not retail investors directly swapping ETF shares for Bitcoin.
While the reduction is meaningful, it does not mean ordinary brokerage users can redeem IBIT shares for BTC in their personal wallets. The process remains limited to approved institutional channels.
The $1 million threshold may improve operational flexibility and liquidity management for mid-sized institutions that were previously restricted by the higher minimum.
