BlackRock Sees Crypto Portfolio Surge $30 Billion in Q3 2026
BlackRock's cryptocurrency portfolio has seen significant growth in Q3 2026, surging by nearly $30 billion over the past three months. The firm's crypto assets increased from $47.56 billion at the start of the quarter to $77.1 billion as of September 30, 2026.
This represents a gain of roughly 62.11% in Q3, driven primarily by the uptrend in cryptocurrency prices. Bitcoin (BTC) has risen by over 42% during this period, reaching nearly $84,000 on Wednesday, while Ethereum (ETH) price has rallied by more than 70%, up from $1,570 to $2,667 at press time.
BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) held about 738,200 BTC valued at around $43.23 billion at the beginning of Q3. However, IBIT has accrued 63,070 additional coins, representing an 8.54% gain, and now holds 801,270 coins.
The firm's two ETH spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs), iShares Ethereum Trust ETF (ETHA) and iShares Staked Ethereum Trust ETF (ETHB), opened the quarter with 2.75 million ETH. During Q3, BlackRock purchased over 1 million ETH, representing a 36.49% uptick, and now holds 3.76 million ETH.
