BlackRock Unleashes Crypto Buying Frenzy with $1.5 Billion Investment
BlackRock, one of the largest financial institutions in the world, has significantly increased its cryptocurrency holdings over the past five days. According to data from SoSoValue, BlackRock's three ETFs, iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), iShares Ethereum Trust ETF (ETHA), and iShares Staked Ethereum Trust ETF (ETHB), purchased a combined total of $1.5104 billion worth of Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH). This represents a substantial increase in the firm's cryptocurrency holdings, which now amount to $78.14 billion.
The majority of this investment came from IBIT, which recorded a net cash inflow of $1.190 billion over the past seven days. As a result, it now holds Bitcoin worth $67.25 billion at the time of writing. ETHA has also seen significant growth, with a net purchase of $320.45 million since last Thursday.
This rapid accumulation of cryptocurrency assets by BlackRock is noteworthy, as it surpasses other spot crypto ETF issuers in terms of purchasing power. The firm's move into the market may indicate a growing interest in digital assets among institutional investors.
