BlackRock's Bitcoin ETF Sees $19M Redemption Amid Broader Sector Selloff
BlackRock's Bitcoin ETF saw its largest single-fund redemption on September 11, 2026, with clients pulling $19.23 million from the iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT). This move is part of a broader trend in US spot Bitcoin ETFs, which collectively shed around $463 million between September 8 and 11, 2026.
The redemption amount may seem significant, but it represents only about 0.03% of IBIT's total assets under management, which exceed $60.6 billion. Despite this, the outflow is a reminder that even large players in the digital asset space are not immune to investor jitters.
BlackRock operates as an intermediary in this process, selling Bitcoin only when ETF shareholders redeem their shares. The actual settlement of redemptions is handled by Coinbase Prime, which serves as IBIT's custodian.
