BlackRock's IBIT Fund Attracts Record $143M in Institutional Bitcoin Buying
BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) has seen significant institutional buying activity in recent times, with a notable influx of $143.57 million in a single day. This is not an isolated event but rather part of a recurring pattern that has been observed throughout 2026.
The IBIT fund, launched in early 2024, remains the dominant vehicle in the US spot Bitcoin ETF landscape, capturing a substantial 81% of total spot Bitcoin ETF inflows in August 2026. The remaining funds from Fidelity and Ark Invest are competing for a relatively small share of the market.
BlackRock's scale is a significant factor contributing to its success. With approximately $10 trillion in managed assets, the firm has established itself as a trusted partner for institutional investors. Its existing relationships with these clients enable a seamless transition into Bitcoin investments through the IBIT fund.
