Blast Ethereum Layer-2 Network to Wind Down Operations

Blast, an Ethereum Layer-2 network, is shutting down after its operating costs outpaced its revenue. The network, which once held over $2 billion in assets, is asking users to withdraw their assets by October 26.

The team behind Blast announced the decision on October 2, citing the ongoing expense of maintaining the network as the reason for the shutdown. Despite its initial success, the network's revenue failed to cover its costs, leaving the team with no choice but to wind down operations.

Blast's growth was fueled by its native yield features and a points program that generated anticipation for an airdrop. However, the network's inability to sustain itself highlights the challenge of maintaining a blockchain network after incentives attract users.
