Summer Mersinger's planned departure as CEO of the Blockchain Association precedes a setback for the CLARITY Act, which stalled a major crypto policy priority.

The Senate cloture failed 49-50 on September 15, leaving another procedural attempt possible. The vote delayed a federal framework that would divide oversight between two major financial regulators.

Mersinger will leave the Blockchain Association after a roughly 16-month tenure as CEO. She will remain an adviser through year-end as Kristin Smith returns as interim CEO on October 17.
