The Blockchain Association has disputed the National Sheriffs' Association's claims that the CLARITY Act would weaken anti-financial crime efforts.

In a letter to Senate Majority Leader John Thune and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, the association argued that the bill actually enhances law enforcement capabilities by bringing DeFi platforms into compliance with existing AML/CFT laws.

The CLARITY Act aims to establish a regulatory framework for decentralized finance (DeFi), clarifying how U.S. financial laws apply to these platforms and their operators.

Lindsay Fraizer, chief policy officer at the Blockchain Association, emphasized the importance of correcting misconceptions before the vote, citing the urgent timing as the Senate enters its August recess.
