US Senate Delays CLARITY Act Vote Amid August Recess Crunch
The US Senate has skipped the CLARITY Act for another day, pushing back a vote on the bill that aims to create a new regulatory structure for the crypto market. Despite Majority Leader John Thune's recent statement that the measure is still a priority, the Senate's official schedule does not include the act for Tuesday, August 4.
Instead, senators reconvened at 10:00 a.m and then adjourned till 2:15 p.m ET to focus on other matters. According to the Senate Press Gallery, votes are expected on the nomination of Erica Schwartz to head the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as well as a group of 74 en bloc nominations.
Crypto analyst Ted Pillows cautioned that lawmakers have little time left before the month-long August recess, saying that if cloture is filed on Wednesday, the earliest vote would likely be Friday. This timeline has been pushed back due to a lack of procedural action on the bill, with no cloture motion yet filed.
