The Blockchain Association's CEO, Summer Mersinger, announced her departure from the organization, effective October 16, 2026. Mersinger has been leading the association since June 2025 and will remain as an advisor through the end of the year.

Mersinger took over as CEO after Kristin Smith stepped down from the position in 2018. Smith will once again take on the role of interim CEO until a permanent successor is found, while also maintaining her presidency at the Solana Policy Institute.

The leadership change comes after the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act failed to pass in the Senate last week, which the Blockchain Association had actively lobbied for. Mersinger highlighted her accomplishments during her tenure, including contributions to the GENIUS Act and advancements in establishing clearer regulatory frameworks at the SEC and CFTC.
