Blockchain.com and NYSE Pursue Tokenized Securities Trading in Parallel
Blockchain.com and the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) are both developing tokenized securities trading platforms, but they're doing it independently of each other. Blockchain.com has partnered with Ondo Finance to offer tokenized versions of US stocks and ETFs through its DeFi wallet, which now lists over 430 assets.
The NYSE's approach is more institutional in focus and aims to create a blockchain-based trading platform for 24/7 trading of tokenized US equities and ETFs. The exchange has signed a memorandum of understanding with Securitize, which will act as the platform's digital transfer agent and help establish operational standards.
The NYSE's platform is still in the regulatory approval process and lacks a confirmed launch date. However, it's designed to be fully fungible with traditional shares, preserving dividend eligibility and shareholder voting rights.
