Blockchain.com and NYSE Team Up on Tokenized Stocks
Blockchain.com and the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) are teaming up to bring tokenized U.S. stocks and ETFs directly into a crypto-native trading platform.
The partnership, which is still in the exploration phase, aims to give Blockchain.com users access to tokenized versions of NYSE-listed securities. This would enable 24/7 trading for eligible global users, a feature that's more familiar to crypto traders than traditional brokerage customers.
Tokenizing shares doesn't remove securities laws, however. The project remains subject to the launch of NYSE's digital alternative trading system and required regulatory approvals.
The proposed venue is designed to support features such as fractional ownership, stablecoin funding, and on-chain settlement. Blockchain.com would become a distribution partner if the system launches, giving its global customer base a way to trade tokenized versions of exchange-listed shares and ETFs from the same ecosystem used for digital assets.
