A verifiable digital record could be created using provenance technology, which connects the image to its mission, instrument, caption, and processing history. Smart contracts could automate access passes, donations, or classroom rewards.
The key distinction is that a token can identify a digital edition and its activity but cannot transfer copyright, create scientific truth, or turn an agency archive into private property.
