Blockstream Redesigns Explorer with Live Mempool Visualizations and Fee Recommendations

Blockstream has revamped its Bitcoin and Liquid block explorer for the first time since launching in November 2018. The new design shifts focus from a blockchain search engine to a network command center, featuring live mempool visualizations and fee recommendations.

The most striking addition is the live next-block mempool visualization, which displays pending transactions as colored tiles, sized according to their virtual size and color-coded by fee band.

Key metrics previously scattered across multiple tools are now surfaced on the main page, including time since the last block, suggested transaction fees in both sat/vB and USD equivalents, and mempool congestion gauges.

The Liquid network gets its own dedicated health view, highlighting key asset metrics, transaction volumes, and network statistics specific to Liquid. This dashboard also supports tracking of peg-in and peg-out transactions, as well as confidential transactions that obscure amounts and asset types.

The explorer now covers Bitcoin mainnet and testnet alongside Liquid mainnet and testnet, making it a single pane of glass for developers working across both networks.
