BNB Chain Security Incident Highlights Seed Phrase Risks

A recent security incident on BNB Chain has highlighted the risks of unauthorized access to seed phrases and the importance of wallet management.

The issue began when a former employee, associated with creating a demo wallet for an official video about launching memecoins on BNB Chain, retained access to the wallet's seed phrase after leaving the company.

The former employee used this access to generate a new private key and issue the ASTEROID token. The token was created using the address featured in the official BNB Chain video, which led some investors to believe it was connected to the network team and caused the asset's price to surge.

However, when the BNB Chain team publicly stated that they were not involved with the token and did not approve its issuance, ASTEROID's market cap dropped by 52.59% in just 20 minutes.
