BNB Chain Unveils Private Payments with Hinkal Protocol

The BNB Chain has introduced private payments through Hinkal Protocol, allowing users to send funds without exposing their balances or transaction history on-chain. This update adds a new layer of confidentiality to one of crypto's busiest payment networks.

Hinkal's zero-knowledge privacy tool uses ZK proofs to shield balances without hiding the underlying math from validators. The system employs cryptographic commitments and nullifiers to prevent double-spending, and stealth addresses keep individual transfers separate from a single wallet.

The BNB Smart Chain already carries heavy loads of stablecoin activity, with tens of millions of holders and monthly transfer volumes reaching past $100 billion. Fees remain low, and blocks confirm in under a second following the Fermi upgrade, so private payments settle at the same speed as usual.
