BNB Consolidates Near $790 as Derivatives Drive Rally Amid Weak ETF Demand
BNB is holding steady near $790 on Monday, following a period of consolidation after three weeks of gains. The token’s technical structure remains bullish, with key moving averages providing support. However, the contrast between strong derivatives activity and weak ETF demand raises questions about the sustainability of the rally.
Derivatives markets are showing significant activity, with BNB futures open interest reaching its highest level since early June. This indicates growing market participation, but it’s unclear whether new positions are predominantly long or short. The funding rate, which turned positive over the weekend, suggests stronger demand for long exposure, though leveraged positions could become vulnerable if prices reverse.
In contrast, BNB spot ETFs have seen little activity since their launch in late May, with subdued demand throughout September and October. This weak ETF inflow suggests that institutional support for the rally has been limited. Until there is a sustained shift in ETF demand, the token’s upward trend will rely on derivatives-driven momentum.
Technically, BNB remains above its 50-day, 100-day, and 200-day exponential moving averages, reinforcing a bullish near-term outlook. Immediate resistance is at $798, with a break above that level targeting $826 and potentially $959. Support levels are at $758, $748, and $728, with holding these areas critical to maintaining the recovery structure.
