BNB Price Surges as CZ Predicts On-Chain IPOs
Binance co-founder Changpeng Zhao, also known as CZ, sparked excitement in the crypto space when he announced that initial public offerings (IPOs) will soon be conducted on-chain.
CZ's comment comes at a time when tokenized stocks and securities are gaining traction on blockchain networks. BNB Chain, for instance, has already listed over 700 tokenized stocks and ETFs, allowing investors to access blockchain versions of classic financial assets.
The idea of shifting IPOs onto blockchain is not just about digitizing ownership, but also about making the process faster, easier, and more accessible. With traditional IPOs, companies raise money, and investors acquire shares through intermediaries, which can be time-consuming and costly.
CZ's vision is to create a new generation of capital markets where tokenized securities are created and managed on programmable blockchain systems. This would enable trading and settlement 24/7, without the need for traditional market hours or clearing systems.
