BNY and Galaxy Digital Launch Institutional Crypto Staking Partnership

Bank of New York Mellon (BNY) has partnered with Galaxy Digital to launch institutional-grade crypto staking services. This move aims to simplify and secure digital asset management for qualified institutions by integrating custody and staking capabilities within BNY's Digital Asset Custody solution.

The partnership leverages BNY's existing infrastructure and Galaxy Digital's expertise in proof-of-stake blockchain networks. Through this collaboration, institutional investors will be able to custody and stake digital assets on the same platform, streamlining their management of these assets.

Galaxy Digital will also become a design partner for BNY, helping to enhance its digital asset platform infrastructure. The staking service and platform improvements are set to launch after regulatory reviews are completed.

BNY's Chief Product & Innovation Officer, Carolyn Weinberg, stated that clients now expect more than just safe custody as digital assets gain traction. By implementing crypto staking, BNY aims to enhance its digital assets business without compromising governance or control.
