Boltz Halted by AI-Hacking Attackers It Cannot Outpace
Boltz, a non-custodial Bitcoin bridge, has indefinitely suspended its services due to repeated attacks on its infrastructure by hackers using AI tools. The company announced that it could no longer 'responsibly re-enable Boltz swaps' while being targeted by multiple resourceful groups.
In the past few months, Boltz witnessed a steady rise in automated, AI-assisted probing of its infrastructure, resulting in several exploits. Although each exploit was contained, the company is concerned that it cannot keep up with fixing exploits as attackers 'iterate faster than a team our size can find and patch.'
Boltz originally suspended services on Monday morning and will remain disabled until further notice. The company emphasizes that no user funds were ever at risk, and any losses were theirs alone.
