Bond Market Volatility Surges, Leaving Bitcoin Relatively Calm
The MOVE index of U.S. Treasury volatility has reached its highest level since March, hitting around 104.
This surge in bond market uncertainty contrasts with Bitcoin's relatively calm trading environment, where the 30-day implied volatility index remains near 37, close to its 2026 low.
The Cboe VIX, which measures expected stock market volatility, is also near its yearly lows around 14.
This divergence shows that bond traders are pricing substantially more uncertainty than Bitcoin and equity options markets.
Bond markets have been dealing with a difficult combination of inflation concerns, higher energy prices, and uncertainty around the path of interest rates. The U.S. 10-year Treasury yield briefly touched about 5.2% before easing slightly.
