Bottomline Unveils Global Pay Connect with Chainlink Partnership
Global Pay Connect has launched as an onchain payment connectivity platform for banks. Bottomline, a top-three Swift service provider handling over $16 trillion in annual payments, introduced the platform in partnership with Chainlink. This new platform links more than 600 banks to blockchain rails without requiring them to replatform their existing systems.
The launch addresses the growing pressure on financial institutions to support real-time payments and ISO 20022 compliance. Bottomline research found that 40% of CFOs cite outdated infrastructure as a barrier to adopting real-time payments, while only 28% describe their SaaS setup as modern and fully API-enabled.
Global Pay Connect connects major global and domestic payment networks, including Swift, SEPA, SIC, Bacs, CHAPS, CHIPS, Lynx, and EBICS. The platform also supports host-to-host connections for institutions with direct integration needs and delivers ISO 20022 transformation and payment data enrichment tools.
Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) powers the blockchain side of Global Pay Connect, linking Bottomline's payment infrastructure to blockchain networks. Chainlink's Runtime Environment (CRE) coordinates end-to-end payment workflows across onchain and offchain systems.
