Bougalis Returns to Ripple: XRP Ledger Core Sees Significant Security Improvements

Ripple's veteran cryptographer Nik Bougalis has returned to work on the XRP Ledger core, bringing his expertise in key cryptographic patents and significant security improvements.

Bougalis, who was one of Ripple's first eight employees, left the project in 2022 but has now rejoined to tackle ambitious next-generation technology challenges. His proposed changes aim to improve the network's performance and security by addressing vulnerabilities and optimizing code safety at compile time.

The return of Bougalis coincides with sweeping structural changes across the industry, including the integration of real-world assets (RWA) into XRPL and shifting US regulatory landscapes.
