Brandt Bets on Stellar as Long-Shot Pick Despite XLM Price Lag
Veteran trader Peter Brandt has made headlines for his latest crypto endorsement, choosing Stellar (CRYPTO:XLM) as his long-shot pick. This selection comes after he previously mocked XRP bulls, labeling them easily baited.
Stellar's price surged 11% following the announcement, driven by both the news and growing institutional adoption trends. However, its price settled back to around $0.22 by October 1. Brandt described Stellar as a multi-year long shot, indicating it's an idea with a low probability of success but potential for high rewards if it pays off.
The co-founder of Stellar is Jed McCaleb, who also co-founded Ripple in 2014, making them direct competitors in the cross-border payments arena. The Grayscale Stellar Lumens Trust (OTC: GXLM) holds XLM and files with the SEC, offering investors a way to access the asset without directly handling a crypto wallet.
XLM's current price is about 74.5% below its all-time high of around $0.88 in January 2018, while XRP's price is 58.9% below its peak of $3.65 in July 2025. Stellar boasts a market value of $7.8 billion, just one-twelfth of XRP's $94.5 billion.
