Brandt Sees Altcoin Gains but Stays Firm on Bitcoin
Renowned trader Peter Brandt believes that altcoins could experience significant gains in the coming months, potentially reaching as high as 10X or even 20X their current prices. However, despite this optimism for the broader market, Brandt remains focused on Bitcoin.
In a recent blog post, Brandt explained his preference for Bitcoin, citing over 50 years of experience in the futures market. He stated that traders typically perform best in markets where they have already developed an edge, and he has no desire to 'sculpt an edge' in individual altcoins.
Brandt's approach to trading emphasizes risk control, with a goal of maintaining net asset value (NAV) increases with drawdowns not exceeding 5% or so. He pointed out that while the total cryptocurrency market capitalization excluding Bitcoin has reached resistance around $1.17 trillion, it is possible for this figure to reach as high as $6.75 trillion, representing a multiple of 6X from current levels.
Michaël van de Poppe, another experienced trader and analyst, echoed Brandt's views on the potential for altcoin gains. Van de Poppe predicted that Ethereum could rally to $15,000-$20,000 this bull cycle, suggesting that the upside could be larger than in the previous cycle.
