Brazil Blitzes Regulatory Hurdles with Swift Digital Asset Framework
Brazil's journey toward regulating its digital asset market has been swift and detailed. From a broad legislative framework in 2014 to comprehensive, operational rules in just three years, the Central Bank of Brazil has moved with unprecedented speed.
Nagel Paulino, Head of the Regulatory Division at the Central Bank of Brazil, attributed this progress to the market's recognition that it needed regulation. 'We were able to advance these rules significantly because the market itself recognized that it needed to be regulated,' Paulino said.
Jason Jiang, CertiK's Chief Business Officer, noted that this alignment between regulators and operators has allowed Brazil to leapfrog other jurisdictions in terms of regulatory maturity. The Central Bank's granular framework removes guesswork for companies, providing clarity on capital thresholds, controls, and evidence required for compliance.
