Brazil Leads Crypto Adoption Amid Severe Bear Market Resilience
The Chainalysis Crypto Adoption Index for 2026 reveals that Brazil has taken the lead in crypto adoption, despite a severe bear market. The reporting period spans from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026, during which Bitcoin reached an all-time high and then plummeted by $67,000, resulting in a total crypto market cap loss of $2.1 trillion.
The global crypto economy showed remarkable resilience, with on-chain economic activity totaling $9.4 trillion over the 12 months ending June 30, 2026, only a slight decrease from the previous period's $9.5 trillion. This growth is attributed to the increasing diversity of real-world applications in the crypto industry.
Three regions achieved growth: Sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America led the charge, while small transfers saw significant growth, with transfers under $100 increasing by 78.4% and between $100 and $1,000 rising by 58.6%. Institutional transfers also demonstrated resilience, decreasing by only 7.2% year-over-year.
Cross-border stablecoin transfer volumes rose from $11 billion in January 2025 to $24 billion by June 2026, with the actual scale likely even higher. The average amount per cross-border transaction is approximately $3,000, representing everyday use cases such as paying suppliers or sending remittances.
Philip Gradwell, Tether's Executive Vice President of Economics, stated that on-chain fund flows have become stable and consistently occur through wallets rather than experiencing sharp spikes and drops. This is characteristic of trade and business activity, not mere speculation.
