Brazil Pioneers Tokenized Dairy Cattle Financing Model
Brazil has pioneered a new financing model for livestock producers by completing its first B3 registered credit transaction backed by tokenized dairy cattle. The operation involved 10 dairy cows from Fazenda Engenho Velho in Paraná, southern Brazil, valued at approximately 120,000 Brazilian reais.
The loan was structured and registered through B3, with Cowmed supplying the digital infrastructure supporting the transaction. Each cow received a unique encrypted digital identity connected to AI-powered smart collars that continuously collect health, behavior, and location data from every animal.
This process creates an authenticated identity that follows each cow throughout the financing period, addressing long-standing challenges in livestock-backed lending. The framework also reduces operational risks during the loan period, allowing lenders to value collateral closer to prevailing market prices before recording agreements through B3.
