Brazilian Bank Invests in Blockchain-Based Digital Note

Share

Banco do Brasil has made its first digital note investment through a $5 million deal with Citi, marking a significant step in the lender's efforts to digitize financial markets.

The transaction involved the issuance of a digitally native structured note on Euroclear's blockchain-based infrastructure, making it the first such deal involving a Latin American institution.

Banco do Brasil participated as an investor through its proprietary treasury, placing it directly on the investor side of the issuance. This setup allows for greater visibility over transaction records and supports settlement, reconciliation, and asset management within a more integrated system.
