Brazilian Funds Integrate with XRP Ledger via CSD BR Infrastructure
Brazil's central securities depository (CSD BR) has taken a significant step towards integrating blockchain technology into its operations. On September 29, 2026, CSD BR began mirroring records of Brazilian investment funds onto the public XRP Ledger, marking one of the first times a licensed depository has recorded securities ownership on a public blockchain in a live, regulated setting.
The move brings XRP Ledger Brazilian funds integration out of the testing phase and into an operating market infrastructure that already handles trillions of reais in registered assets. BTG Pactual fund shares are the first assets to be tokenized and mirrored onto the network using the XRP Ledger's Multi-Purpose Token standard.
CSD BR remains the official legal record of ownership, with the ledger serving as an independent audit layer that authorized institutions can check. The setup runs inside CSD BR's existing infrastructure, with investors and issuers keeping the same processes as before.
Ripple's custody technology and XRP Ledger features are being used in this project. According to Luke Judges, a Ripple executive, CSD BR chose the XRP Ledger specifically because of its financial-sector design and ability to integrate with existing regulated infrastructure.
