Brazil's Regulated Capital Markets Get Onchain with BTG Pactual Fund Shares
CSD BR, a Brazilian market-infrastructure operator, has begun mirroring ownership records for BTG Pactual investment funds on the XRP Ledger. This move brings blockchain into a regulated system that oversees over BRL 22 trillion ($4 trillion) in registered assets.
The deployment uses XRPL's Multi-Purpose Token standard, allowing authorized institutions to verify records near real-time while preserving KYC, AML, and transfer controls. The XRP Ledger acts as an audit layer, giving institutions a way to verify fund ownership records without relying on slower reconciliation between separate databases.
CSD BR retains control over who can own and transfer the representations, preserving identity, AML, and regulatory checks while the ledger remains publicly readable. The architecture combines XRPL with Ripple's custody infrastructure, using live fund records rather than simulated assets in a closed pilot.
