British Investor Recovers £3.3M in Frozen Bitcoins After 13-Year Fight
A British investor has recovered his £3.3 million Bitcoin fortune after losing access for over 13 years.
The man, Chris, bought Bitcoin in 2011 through Intersango, one of Britain's earliest cryptocurrency exchanges, with an initial investment of £1,500.
At the time, Bitcoin traded at a few pounds per coin, allowing his small investment to grow into a substantial holding worth around £4,000 by 2014. However, when Chris tried to withdraw his funds, Intersango had frozen his account and he lost access to his holdings.
The Financial Conduct Authority did not regulate Intersango, leaving Chris with limited recovery options. Despite the difficulties, Chris's wife encouraged him to seek help from CEL Solicitors, a firm specializing in cryptocurrency recovery cases.
The lawyers successfully negotiated with US courts and eventually recovered Chris's Bitcoin, which is now worth approximately £3.3 million at current market values.
