BSTR's Bitcoin Treasury Deal Collapses: $15M Debt Remains

A proposed public Bitcoin treasury company led by Adam Back's BSTR Holdings has fallen through, but its $15 million debt obligation remains. The agreement between BSTR and Cantor Equity Partners I, a special-purpose acquisition company, was terminated on August 20.

The termination deal requires BSTR to pay the first $10 million of the debt by September 19, followed by the remaining $5 million due by December 1. If Blockstream Capital Partners is asked to cover the payment, it would have to make the full $15 million within those deadlines.

If either deadline is missed by more than seven days, certain legal protections granted by Cantor Equity Partners I and its affiliates would be nullified, including covenant-not-to-sue provisions.
