BSV Users Find Air-Gapped Cold Storage Solution in PiWalletSV
PiWalletSV is a DIY cold storage solution for Bitcoin Satoshi Vision (BSV) users, created by developer Monty Ohrt. It's designed to be air-gapped, meaning it doesn't connect to any computer or network, and uses animated QR codes to sign transactions through a companion web app.
The device itself never touches a computer or network, and the software is open-source, based on open specifications. While pre-built units are sold out, users can assemble their own PiWalletSV from off-the-shelf parts using guides on the website.
Setting up the wallet involves choosing a PIN number, writing down a 12- or 24-word seed phrase, and optionally adding extra entropy with the camera or dice rolls. Users then pair the device with the companion app by scanning animated QR codes, which allows them to receive transactions in the familiar blockchain-wallet fashion.
Sending transactions from the Pi is slightly more complex, requiring users to enter transaction details in the companion app and select 'sign transaction' on the Pi before completing it through a QR code scan.
