BTC Defies Headwinds to Hit Eight-Month High
BTC surged to an eight-month high on September 21, reaching $85,222, despite concerns surrounding interest rate hikes and regulatory stalling. According to VettaFi's Roxanna Islam, this resilience is due in part to improved macro conditions.
The Treasury's announcement of increased liquidity-support buybacks for longer-dated Treasuries helped revive the 'debasement trade,' driving up assets like gold and BTC. This trend saw the dollar fall nearly 1% over the week, while BTC rallied.
Islam also notes that fixed income ETFs have seen unprecedented inflows, with approximately $446 billion absorbed in year-to-date net inflows by mid-September. This is largely driven by investors seeking 5% yields, making these funds more attractive than traditional savings or money market accounts.
