BTC Nears Key Resistance Zone Near $85,000, ETH Consolidates, XRP Steadies
Bitcoin is nearing its key resistance zone near $85,000 after experiencing modest gains this week. Ethereum, on the other hand, continues to consolidate around $2,700 as traders await its next directional move. Ripple has steadied at $1.50 after recovering losses from earlier in the week.
The price action of these top three cryptocurrencies faces key technical hurdles that could determine their next direction. Bitcoin's rebound may be extended if it breaks above the $85,000 resistance level, which currently sits just above its current price.
Looking at the charts, Bitcoin maintains a bullish bias as it holds well above the 50-day, 100-day and 200-day Exponential Moving Averages (EMAs). The Relative Strength Index (RSI) is at 64, suggesting firm but not extreme bullish momentum. However, the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) indicator has slipped back into negative territory, hinting that upside momentum may be losing steam.
Ethereum also maintains a bullish near-term bias as it holds above its 50-day EMA at $2,467 and longer-term 100-day and 200-day EMAs. The RSI is around 64, suggesting firm but not extreme bullish momentum. However, the MACD indicator shows the line slipping deeper below zero, hinting that upside momentum may be losing some traction.
XRP bulls hold key support at $1.50 as it holds above its 50-day EMA at $1.381 and 200-day EMA at $1.376. The RSI is around 57, suggesting positive but not overextended momentum. However, the MACD indicator has slipped marginally negative, hinting at a mild loss of upside pace rather than a full reversal.
