BTC STH SOPR Surpasses 1 as IMF Clarifies Donations Funded Strategic Reserve
Bitcoin (BTC) has reached a significant milestone as its short-term holder selling pressure metric, STH SOPR, surpassed 1 for the first time in over a year. According to CryptoQuant and ChainCatcher data, this means that short-term holders (those holding BTC for under six months) are selling slightly above their cost.
Meanwhile, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has clarified its involvement with the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve. In a recent review, the IMF stated that recent additions to the reserve were funded by donations, not public funds. Furthermore, there are no plans for public purchases of Bitcoin versus US Dollar Spot CFD (BTCUSD).
El Salvador's president also weighed in on a recent transfer of Chivo wallet shares. Reports had suggested that the state moved control of over 7,763 BTC, but this was found to be false. The actual transfer involved Chivo wallet shares, not the country's bitcoin reserve.
