BTCS Expands DeFi Business onto Ethereum Layer-2 Network Base
BTCS Inc., a blockchain company listed on Nasdaq under the ticker BTCS, has expanded its Imperium decentralized finance business to Base, an Ethereum Layer-2 network. This move marks Imperium's first foray beyond Ethereum mainnet and is part of a multi-chain strategy that allows BTCS to dynamically provide liquidity based on market conditions.
The company's assets deployed in paired liquidity pools have increased significantly, reaching $36 million from $8 million at the end of the second quarter. This growth has accelerated during the third quarter, with BTCS citing transaction volumes and demand as key factors driving its expansion onto Base.
Imperium generates revenue by deploying digital assets into smart contract-based protocols used for decentralized lending, borrowing, and liquidity provisioning. By operating across multiple networks and assets, BTCS aims to provide liquidity where volume and demand shift.
