BTCS Prepares Imperium DeFi Unit for Tokenized Stock Liquidity
BTCS has taken steps to prepare its Imperium DeFi unit for providing liquidity for tokenized stocks, but actual trading hasn't begun yet. The company has completed compliance work required for potential use of the SEC's Covered Firm exemption and submitted a notice to the regulator on September 28.
The SEC created conditional temporary relief from the dealer definition for firms like Imperium that provide liquidity through automated market maker pools on eligible tokenized-securities venues, but this doesn't mean the company has received approval or a broker-dealer license. A qualifying Tokenized Securities Venue must first become operational before BTCS can rely on the exemption.
Imperium's business model already involves deploying crypto assets into DeFi protocols, including lending and liquidity markets. Extending this to tokenized equities would represent a significant step for the company and the blockchain-based market structure.
